Bruins play as bad as the Red Sox on ice against Tampa Bay

I know it's been tough to go from a long break to playoff intensity, but the Bruins are dealing with a situation that every other team is dealing with, and it's hard to say they are dealing with it better than other team.

The 1st period saw some habitual issues, namely too many passes in shooting situations. Then an unfocused too many men penalty led to a power play. The goal on the power play was bad luck with some ricochets, but bad play leads to bad luck hurting more acutely than normal. Before the PP goal the Lightning had been moving the puck around as fast as, well, lightning. And the Bruins' heads were spinning trying to keep up.

I liked Torey Krug fighting, I just wish the Bruins didn't need to get that fighting fire from a player who is a key offensive contributor and isn't very large. I wish there were other players on the team who would be threats to drop the gloves who aren't as critical.

The game-winning goal was beyond inexcusable. The Bruins were less than 100 seconds away from securing at least a point, which is important in this group play. Carlo struggled to move the puck out of his own end, then the Bruins made entry far too easy for Tampa Bay. A shot, a juicy rebound, a goal, and all of a sudden the B's can only be a #3 seed, at best.

Maybe that's what they deserve...
