COLLEGE BOWL PICKS/PREVIEWS: PART I

It was an interesting regular season, and hopefully the Bowl Games will answer some questions, although they never answer all of them, do they? During the regular season, I was 34-33 with my picks, so not too shabby, but not showing off. It's time to kick some ass in the bowl games. Here are my picks for this weekend (December 19th, and 20th):

New Mexico Bowl - Albuquerque, NM
Saturday 12/19 4:30 PM - ESPN
Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Wyoming Cowboys
Fresno State lost 4 games, all to pretty good teams (Boise State, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, and Nevada), and took care of business against everyone else. Wyoming was 6-6, and struggled against mediocre competition. I give the edge to Fresno State in this one.

St. Petersburg Bowl - St. Petersburg, FL
Saturday 12/19 8:00 PM - ESPN
Central Florida Knights vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Rutgers gorged on I-AA teams, beating 3 to help them attain their 8-4 record. But they give West Virginia and Pittsburgh a fight. UCF is playing 100 miles from their home in Orlando. The natural tendency is to favor the BCS conference team over the C-USA opponent. But UCF isn't bad, Rutgers tends to fuck up, and UCF is essentially at home. I give it to the uncolored Knights.

New Orleans Bowl - New Orleans, LA
Sunday 12/20 8:30 PM - ESPN
Southern Miss. Golden Eagles vs. Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders
I found a picture of Southern Miss girls pretty quickly, couldn't find an MTSU girl. So Southern Miss wins this one.

Next set of previews will come on Monday, stay tuned!
