RED SOX PLAYOFF COMEBACKS

1986 vs. California Angels: Red Sox go down 3-1, win 3 straight to win AL pennant
1999 vs. Cleveland Indians: Red Sox go down 2-0 on the road, win 3 straight to go to ALCS
2003 vs. Oakland Athletics: Red Sox go down 2-0 on the road, win 3 straight to go to ALCS
2004 vs. New York Yankees: Red Sox go down 3-0, win 4 straight to go to World Series

Tonight the Red Sox put out their old war horse, Tim Wakefield. The man who was there the last time we won the division. The man who played in the 95, 98, 99, and 03 LDSs. We didn't need him in last year's LDS because we swept. This time, we need him.

He goes up against Freddy Garcia. I don't think Garcia or the White Sox have the mettle or the experience or the confidence to beat us in our own backyard. Then again, I also predicted we'd win games 1 and 2.

  1. You lose... Your "old war horse" T.W failed to do the job. Better luck next year.

Hahaha. best part of the White Sox is winning is everybody gets to see all the Red Sox fans shut up.

  3. Geez, man, we're never going to shut up. You had best get used to that.

See, unlike so many fans, we actually love our team. We don't just hate losing because it reminds us how shallow our lives are.

Now I get to wear my Cardinals cap!

  4. The only good part about us losing, is watching all the losers that are happy we lost. I mean, if our failure is a cause of your happiness, you must not have a whole lot else to be happy for.

  5. Whoah! Rob, I completely misread your post for a second and started to write a nasty response about how I wasn't sad we lost and how you were a dreadful person for saying I was. Glad I reread before posting.

Yes, fans of other teams who take great joy in our pain ... they suck.

That said, I'm going to be so happy when I see Yankee fans in tears tonight at the hands of Jarod Washburn.
